When I can't sleep, there are a few things I do. First, working out tends to help. I seem to be more relaxed after working out, which doesn't make sense to most people, but to me it does. Music helps a lot too, but the kind differs from person to person. I can fall asleep listening to metal sometimes, haha. The last thing is just getting into bed, relaxing the best you can, and then slowly tightening and releasing your muscles, starting from your feet all the way up to your neck.

I have to admit Lavendar is going to be something which I have found to help me relax. When I use this or have it in my shampoo it works out great in getting me to relax easier.

Reducing your exposure to artificial light is very important. Artificial light is the enemy of melatonin. Your sleep quality will be impaired if you sit in front of a bright computer screen at night, I know that from personal experience.

If you wake up and can't fall back asleep within 20 minutes or so, get out of bed. Go to another room and read or do other quiet activities until you feel sleepy.

In addition to all this I try to getting at least 1 hour of exercise.

However, before my last exam I woke up after only 4 hours, what could be the reason for this? It is easy to fall asleep, but I really need to sleep for a longer time.
