This is cool and scary as shit. It looks like a plague spreading from places run by Democrats.

And it only goes up to 8.5%. 'bama admits it's over 10% and you know the truth is a lot lot higher than that. They will never tell you the truth. They don't even count people who have used up their unemployment benefits or who have given up looking. The true figure is no doubt over 15%. But all you see in the papers is happy talk. We are running on fumes and happy talk isn't going to cut it. I predict another stock market crash followed later on by huge inflation. My gold investment is looking better every day.

Can you imagine what that map will look like in the future? They also need to make the black and dark gray areas lighter, because in 6 months the whole country could be in the black.

where they rely most on 'globalisation' I suspect that is where the most problems are seen, that and underinvestment in old school industries.

Could it relate to liberal politics - yes, because thats where people get paid most for the least work, and where logically it would be hardest to stay competitive in a globalised market place.

    right on

actually, if you look at the map, the central part of the US is actually doing pretty good. Thats the food suppliers mostly, and i assume they are used to working hard for their pay, and its a production of a good.

America becoming more and more a "consumption" nation really leaves pissing in the wind when any financial hardship hits, as it has now.

No, it looks like it spread from the Deep South, Appalachia, Michigan and the West Coast out. But confirmation bias can be hard to overcome.

And check out the per capita on gov't handouts to the Republican states:

From cities with tons of black people and/or hispanics (TX and FL) -- i.e. liberal cities.

And, though it doesn't really look like the Appalachia claim is terribly accurate, that is inbred hillbilly country.
